Graduation and Degree Audit Important Dates

Planning to graduate? Use the information below to stay on track from applying for graduation through degree completion. Review the deadlines carefully, plan ahead, and complete each step by the required date.

Your graduation process may include applying for graduation, reviewing your degree audit, completing remaining coursework, meeting important academic deadlines, and preparing for commencement.

Apply for Graduation

The first step is to submit your Application for Graduation/Degree Audit by the deadline for your intended graduation term. Applying by the deadline allows time for your degree audit to be reviewed and gives you an opportunity to address any outstanding requirements before your degree is awarded.

Application Deadlines

      • Summer Graduation: February 1
      • Fall Graduation: June 1
      • Spring Graduation: September 1

Tip: Don’t wait until the deadline to apply. Submitting your application early gives you more time to review your degree audit and resolve any remaining requirements.

Review Your Degree Audit

After submitting your application, review your degree audit carefully. Your degree audit shows the requirements for your degree and helps identify coursework or other requirements that may still need to be completed.

Pay close attention to:

      • Required courses that are incomplete or still in progress
      • Credit-hour requirements
      • Major, minor, concentration, or certificate requirements
      • General education requirements
      • GPA requirements
      • Any outstanding requirements or deficiencies

If you have questions about your remaining requirements, contact your academic advisor as soon as possible.

Stay on Track With Important Academic Dates

Completing your degree requires more than submitting your graduation application. Continue to monitor important academic deadlines throughout your final term.

Important dates may include:

      • Registration deadlines
      • Course add/drop deadlines
      • Withdrawal deadlines
      • Final exam dates
      • Degree audit deadlines
      • Final grade deadlines
      • Other deadlines that may affect your degree completion

Review the academic calendar regularly and plan ahead to make sure you complete all required coursework and other degree requirements on time.

Complete Any Remaining Requirements

Use your degree audit to monitor your progress toward degree completion. If you have outstanding requirements, make a plan to complete them by the appropriate deadline.

If your plans change, or you determine that you will not complete your requirements during your intended graduation term, contact the Office of the Registrar.

By federal regulations, if a student received any type of student loan, the student is required to complete a Financial Aid exit interview.

Completing these final steps is essential to avoid delays with your diploma or future enrollment:

Continuing to Graduate School:

      • Log into your FAFSA account at studentaid.gov
      • Update your enrollment status from “No” to “Yes”

Graduating and Not Returning:

Need to Defer Your Loans:

Before the week of graduation, review your student account to make sure your balance is paid in full or that you have made the necessary arrangements with the Business Office. Be sure to resolve any outstanding balances or billing holds that could prevent your diploma from being released.

If you have questions about your account, outstanding balance, or billing hold, contact the Business Office before graduation for assistance. Taking care of these items early can help ensure there are no delays in receiving your diploma after graduation.
